Dispute Resolution
Daniela Karollus-Bruner (CMS Austria) and Guy Pendell (CMS UK) have been named as co-heads of the CMS Dispute Resolution Group.
Daniela is based in Vienna and has many years of experience managing complex litigation and arbitration cases for international and domestic clients from various industries, especially in the areas of banking and financial services, automotive, construction, consumer products and insurance. She has also led the CMS Dispute Resolution Group in Vienna and CEE for 15 years.
Based in London, Guy is an experienced dispute resolution practitioner, having previously managed CMS UK’s Dispute Resolution Group for 12 years. He is well known for his arbitration and litigation expertise, with particular experience managing disputes in corporate/M&A, technology, life sciences, aviation and finance sectors.
Financial Institutions and Institutional Investors
Amanda Howard (CMS UK) has been named as head of the Financial Institutions and Institutional Investor Cluster.
Based in London, Amanda specialises in complex joint ventures for property investment and development, corporate wrapped property acquisitions and disposals and equity raisings for real estate funds in the UK and across Europe.
Funds
Darren Stolzenberg (CMS UK) has been named as head of the Funds Group.
Darren is based in London, and his practice focuses on structuring transactions through indirect vehicles such as companies, limited partnerships, unit trusts and offshore vehicles. He advises on UK and international fund establishments (including co-investment and management incentivisation), clubs, joint ventures, corporatised transactions and also advises investors looking to invest in UK, pan-European and global funds.
Hospitality, Travel & Leisure
Madrid-based partner, Javier Colino (CMS Spain) has been named as head of the CMS Hospitality, Travel & Leisure Group.
Javier advises domestic and international clients at the intersection of corporate, finance and real estate law. His main focus is corporate transactions with a real estate aspect—particularly in operational assets such as hotels, student housing and flexible living schemes. He guides investors, developers and financial institutions through real estate M&A, joint ventures, structured financings across all asset classes and has substantial experience with stand-alone real estate matters. This includes the negotiation of commercial leases, operational management agreements and project developments.
Intellectual Property
London-based partner, Caitlin Heard (CMS UK) joins Carsten Menebröcker (CMS Germany) as co-head of the CMS Intellectual Property Group.
Caitlin has been instrumental in several landmark cases across the full spectrum of IP rights and has experience across a range of industry sectors focusing on technology and life sciences. She has particular expertise advising clients on their IP strategy in respect of Standard Essential Patents and FRAND licensing and has acted on several standard essential patent disputes across a number of jurisdictions. She is also well placed to advise clients in the life sciences sector, where she has advised clients on product launch strategy and regulatory exclusivity rights.
Insurance
Tristan Hall (CMS UK) has been named to join Bas Baks (CMS Netherlands) as co-head of the CMS Insurance Group.
Based in London and Bristol, Tristan advises on complex, high value claims and insurance coverage disputes worldwide. A core member of CMS’s cybersecurity team, he also guides clients through major data breaches, ransomware attacks and regulatory investigations.
Private Equity
London-based partner, Narinder Jugpal (CMS UK) joins Jacob Siebert (CMS Germany) as co-head of the CMS Private Equity Group.
Narinder advises private equity sponsors, infrastructure funds and other financial investors on all facets of private capital transactions, both within the UK and internationally. He has extensive experience in guiding financial sponsor clients through every stage of the investment cycle, working across a broad range of industry sectors. He also specialises in transactions within the energy and infrastructure space.
