Cologne – Carglass has acquired rival company junited Autoglas. The two companies will continue to operate as independent units under the umbrella of the Belron Group, with their own customer base and existing brand. The aim of the deal is to achieve synergies and continue growing both of the businesses. The German Federal Cartel Office has already approved the merger.
A team led by Klaus Jäger and Dr Richard Mayer-Uellner advised vehicle glass specialist Carglass on all aspects of acquiring junited Autoglas, a competitor in the market. Carglass has been a CMS client for many years.
Cologne-based Carglass is part of the Belron Group, which is listed in Brussels and has 24,000 employees worldwide. It generated sales of nearly EUR 2.9 billion in the last year for which figures are available. With 330 service centres throughout Germany and around 2,200 employees, Carglass is the market leader in Germany. junited Autoglas has 238 depots, making it the largest German network of independent vehicle glass specialists. It is well-positioned particularly with regard to working on motor insurance claims and on fleet/leased vehicles.
