Hamburg – Listed Chinese power cable and optical fibre manufacturer Hengtong has acquired all the shares in j-fiber GmbH, which is part of LEONI AG. The deal is being handled via Hengtong subsidiary Aberdare Holding Europe B.V. Jena-based j-fiber is regarded as one of Europe’s leading providers of optical fibres for data transmission, and is the only manufacturer of such fibres in Germany. A joint venture between j-fiber and Aberdare Holding has been in place since 2018. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is currently awaiting approval from the foreign trade and merger control authorities.
A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Henrik Drinkuth advised Hengtong on all legal aspects of the complex deal. The CMS team led by the Hamburg-based partner also provided Hengtong with legal advice when the joint venture between Aberdare Holding and j-fiber was formed.
