Thomas de la Motte is a highly respected finance expert. He advises banks, companies and investors on all legal aspects of finance transactions. His focus is on real estate and asset finance (namely ship, aircraft and rail finance). Furthermore, he advises on acquisition finance, project finance for infrastructure projects (wind / solar farms) and general corporate finance. In addition to his know-how in respect of general commercial lending Thomas has a particular expertise for alternative finance methods such as leasing, factoring and securitisations. Clients furthermore regularly seek Thomas’ advice in the context of distressed loans, loan syndications, refinancings and the restructuring of financial transactions. He has special expertise in the maritime and the energy trading sector.

Thomas started his legal career with CMS in 1999 and has been a partner since 2005. He was seconded to a large energy company in 2003 and in the same year as well as in 2006, he supported the legal department of a German Bank, initially at its London branch and then at the bank’s head office in Hamburg.
