We are pleased to invite you to the launch event for the 2025 edition of CMS’s biennial report on the evolving role of oil and gas companies in the progress towards a net zero future.

Since 2023, changes in policy, commercial and legal landscapes have created new challenges for oil and gas companies in determining their strategy towards the energy transition. Our report analyses the transition strategies of 16 of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, including through detailed review of past, present and future capital allocation.

At this event we will launch the report and discuss its key findings, focussing on:

  • the mid-term challenges and longer-term trends facing oil and gas companies in relation to their energy transition strategies;
  • the multi-solutions approaches that companies are taking to reduce their own emissions, including carbon capture;
  • ways in which innovative technology, such as AI, is expected to play a key role in the transition; and
  • investment trends, reflecting on the shifting balance between oil and gas investments and energy transition investments.

We will be joined by a panel of industry experts who will share their views on this exciting topic. The panel includes:

Meagan Keiser, Vice President, Legal - Business Development and Technology, Equinor
Michael Tholen, Sustainability and Policy Director at Offshore Energies UK
Niall Trimble, Managing Director, The Energy Contract Company
