The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has welcomed the OFT's finding that competitive prices for home computers are available in the UK if consumers shop around. The OFT commenced its investigation (under FTA73, CA80 and Consumer Credit Act powers) into home PC’s as a result of concerns that British consumers were paying more for home computers than consumers in other countries. The investigation has however shown that if buyers shop around they can get deals that match the best prices in other countries - and they get better choice than computer buyers in either France or Germany.
