CMS acts for Great Portland Estates on sale of 160 Great Portland Street, London

16 August 2018

International law firm CMS has acted for Great Portland Estates plc (GPE) on its sale of 160 Great Portland Street in London’s West End to 139 Westar House Marylebone Limited, part of the Alduwaliya Asset Management group, which is owned by the Qatari royal family.

The property provides more than 92,000 sq ft of office space over the lower ground, ground and six upper floors. The offices are let until May 2032 to Double Negative Limited, a leading visual effects company for feature film and television. There is also a small restaurant arranged over the ground and lower ground floors.

The sale is in line with GPE’s strategic business objectives.

Real estate partner Caroline Maude and associate Thomas Neale led the CMS team advising GPE. They were supported by Charlotte West (Construction), Lauren Alder (Tax) Hetty Tombs (Planning).

Caroline Maude said: “We are delighted to have supported GPE on the successful disposal of 160 Great Portland Street. The team worked closely with GPE on the building, from acquisition through refurbishment and pre-letting, with the sale completed, from start to finish, in two weeks.”
