International law firm CMS has advised Cavalry Ventures on its investment in AI-powered edtech startup Kinnu. The round was led by Cavalry and LocalGlobe, with Spark Capital and Jigsaw, as well as an all-star angel cast including Tom Hulme from Google Ventures, Guy Podjarny, and Rene Rechtman investing.
Kinnu is a learning engine that allows users to explore new concepts and master any field of study, choosing from an ever-expanding list of themes such as artificial intelligence, modern art, intermittent fasting, psychology, philosophy, history, and scientific breakthroughs.
Founded in 2016 by a group of seasoned entrepreneurs and investors, Cavalry Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm in Berlin, Germany, that backs bold entrepreneurs in building a better future through technology. It has backed more than 50 companies, including Forto (backed by Softbank), BRYTER (backed by Tiger Global, Accel), REKKI (backed by Benchmark, Atomico), PlanRadar (backed by Insight), and Clarisights (backed by Sequoia).
The CMS Venture Capital team was led by Tom Jameson with support from Greg Turton (Corporate). This is the latest investment the team has advised Cavalry Ventures on, having worked on its investment in Nory in May 2023.
