CMS advises Fremantle on majority stake acquisition in Element Pictures

International law firm CMS has advised independent TV production company, Fremantle, part of Bertelsmann, the international media group, on its acquisition of a majority interest in award winning production company, Element Pictures.

Element Pictures is the producer of hit television series “Normal People” based on the novel by Sally Rooney, and Oscar winning film, “The Favourite”, and is also producing Sally Rooney’s “Conversations with Friends” which will premiere on BBC and Hulu shortly.  

CMS partners Simon Morgan and Victoria Gaskell led a multi-disciplinary CMS team, who advised on a complex series of corporate, commercial and IP arrangements. The team also included Jennifer Lloyd, Cameron Jones and Coralie Barker (Corporate); Rebecca Hayes (Technology & Media); Stephen Hignett and Rebecca Stewart (Tax); and Rachel Easter and Hattie Ryland (Employment).
