CMS has advised Global, a media and entertainment group, on two significant acquisitions following the launch of Global Studios to supercharge podcast growth and accelerate the video-first shift.

In late 2025, CMS advised Global on its acquisition of The Fellas Studios, a leading creator network founded in 2021 by YouTubers Callum Airey (Calfreezy) and Joshua Larkin (TheBurntChip), marking the first deal under the Global Studios banner.

Most recently, CMS has advised Global on a majority stake acquisition in The Overlap, the multi‑award winning sports media group founded by Gary Neville in 2021. The partnership will see the continued growth and development of The Overlap with an ambition to build a world-leading multi-format sports media network.

Announced in late 2025, Global Studios will be the ultimate one-stop-shop for creators, with best-in-class video and audio facilities, seamless distribution across all major platforms, and the unrivalled marketing power of Global’s radio, digital and outdoor network.

Commenting on the transactions, CMS Corporate Partner Tom Jameson said:We’re delighted to have supported Global on these landmark transactions, which marks a significant step forward in the evolution of the UK’s podcast and creator economy. The launch of Global Studios, together with the acquisition of The Fellas Studios and The Overlap, demonstrates Global’s commitment to innovation and investment in the fast-growing, video-first podcast space. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these partnerships will have on creators, audiences, and the wider industry.”

The CMS team was led by Tom Jameson with support from Lauren Wood, Alexandra Stuart and Rachel Smart (Corporate); John Enser, Eliza Cohen, Jess Wilkinson, Jake Sargent and Shriya Lakhani (Commercial); Hannah Netherton and Max Wiktorsson (Employment); Rebecca Stewart and Alex Oldland (Tax); Andy Quayle and Cathy Wears (Employee Incentives); and Matt Speed and Lucy Williams (Real Estate).
