CMS is delighted to announce that it has won the TMT team of the year category at the British Legal Awards, held on the 27th of November in London.
Now in their 15th year, the British Legal Awards recognise the outstanding contributions of legal professionals, firms, and teams shaping the landscape of law. CMS won the coveted award for its work advising the Esports World Cup Foundation on the organisation of the first Esports World Cup (EWC), which took place over eight weeks in July and August 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr Pietro Graf Fringuelli, Samuel Oustayiannis and Mohammed Aldowish led a global CMS-team of over 30 lawyers. The firm provided full legal support on all aspects of the EWC, including agreements with the teams, the rulebook for the EWC and all associated regulations for the participation at the EWC, sponsorship agreements, media rights and partnership agreements as well as agreements with publishers.
CMS Partner Sam Oustayiannis comments: “We are delighted to have won this award. The first Esports World Cup was an event unlike any other and this win is testament to the outstanding work our team has done with the Esports World Cup Foundation to deliver a successful World Cup that could be enjoyed around the world.”
The CMS team is at the forefront of the Esports sector and advises on all legal aspects, including publisher agreements, media rights, IP and regulatory requirements.
