Abbie Harley is a Partner in the employment team and advises clients on the full spectrum of employment law issues. Clients describe Abbie as being personable, commercial and going above and beyond to meet their needs.

Abbie advises employers across a broad range of sectors, with a particular focus on financial services, crypto and energy. Having completed secondments with a FTSE 100 financial services business and a leading energy company, she brings a strong understanding of the pressures facing HR and in-house legal teams, and the support they need from their external advisers. She also works closely with the CMS FS Regulatory team on matters involving both regulatory and employment law considerations, helping clients take a joined-up approach from the outset.

Abbie regularly manages cross-border mandates and has significant experience advising on complex employee disputes, particularly in a litigation context.

Abbie is also passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, and regularly supports employers on these issues. She has particular experience advising on equal pay and the challenging and evolving issue of competing beliefs in the workplace.

Alongside her client work, Abbie is a member of the Edinburgh CMS Women committee and a CMS mentor. She also sits on the committee of the Scottish Discrimination Law Association and is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
