Alex is a Partner in the Pensions Team.  Alex joined the firm in London as a trainee solicitor in 2010 and qualified into the pensions department in 2012, having spent six months there as a trainee.   Alex is now based in the CMS Manchester office.

Alex advises trustees, employers, representative beneficiaries, the PPF and pension service providers on a range of contentious and non-contentious pension issues.  Alex’s practice includes advice on scheme buy-ins and buy-outs, ongoing scheme advice.  In addition to advising on day-to-day pension matters, she has particular expertise in advising on contentious pensions matters including Part 7 and Part 8 pensions litigation.  

Listed as a ‘Rising Star’ in the Legal 500.  Shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year at the 2025 Women in Pensions Awards.

Relevant experience

  • BT on an expedited Part 8 construction claim regarding RPI/CPI, including Court of Appeal.
  • Secondment to a large pension service provider to advise on contentious pensions matters.
  • On scheme buy-ins and buy-outs, including associated benefit specification and date cleanse work, followed by scheme wind-ups.
  • On surplus considerations.
  • Ongoing advice in relation to scheme amendments, benefit queries, scheme governance, auto-enrolment and data protection issues.
  • Dispute resolution advice, including the conduct of substantial professional negligence claims with experience of mediation and Pension Ombudsman complaints. 
  • The PPF on assessment period cases and related advice. 
  • Employers, trustees and representative beneficiaries on Part 8 rectification/construction proceedings (including contested and uncontested applications) along with underlying professional negligence action against former advisers.
