Ben is a Senior Associate in the CMS Competition team in Edinburgh. 

Ben has broad experience advising corporate clients on contentious and non-contentious UK, EU and multi-jurisdictional competition law matters, including behavioural, cartel and merger control investigations. He also advises clients on competition law aspects of their commercial arrangements and compliance programmes, as well as on UK and multi-jurisdictional NSI and foreign investment control matters.

Ben joined CMS in August 2026, having previously trained and qualified at a Magic Circle law firm in London, where he worked as an associate in the competition team. He has also previously worked as a Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in London.

  • Subsea7 on the UK and EU merger control reviews in relation to its proposed cross-border merger with Saipem.*
  • A major UK housebuilder on the CMA’s investigation into suspected exchanges of competitively sensitive information, which the CMA closed following its acceptance of commitments by the parties.*
  • A global vehicle manufacturer on the UK cartel investigation regarding the recycling of end-of-life vehicles.*
  • Aon in relation to the European Commission’s review of its $29.9bn merger with Willis Towers Watson.*
  • Linnaeus, part of Mars Veterinary Health, on the multi-year market investigation by the CMA into the UK veterinary services sector.*
  • A global investment manager on multi-jurisdictional foreign investment control matters in relation to its global partnership with another investment manager.*
