Elaine is a senior associate in the Pensions Team.  After first being called as a lawyer in Canada in 2015, she joined CMS as a trainee solicitor and later qualified into the Pensions team in 2018. 

Elaine advises trustees, employers and providers on a range of contentious and non-contentious pension issues.  In addition to advising on day-to-day pensions matters, she has experience of benefit restructuring, large-scale scheme mergers and de-risking transactions.  

Relevant experience

  • The £4.7bn all risks buy-out with Rothesay Life, which is the largest ever buy-out of a UK pension scheme. 
  • BT’s Part 8 litigation and judicial review claims in the Court of Appeal.     
  • Trustees on a significant three-way merger project, involving complex funding structures.
