Eleanor specialises in brand protection and enforcement. She advises clients in relation to all aspects of trade mark selection, registration, portfolio management and enforcement. She has particular expertise in the advertising, media and telecoms sectors.

Eleanor’s practice includes advising clients in relation to watch notices, conducting and advising on clearance searches, devising and implementing filing strategies and dealing with official objections. Eleanor also has extensive experience in relation to contentious trade mark matters including filing and prosecuting oppositions, cancellation and invalidity proceedings at both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the EUIPO, at first instance and on appeal.

As a qualified Trade Mark Attorney litigator, Eleanor also handles trade mark litigation and has been involved in trade mark infringement and passing off proceedings before the UK High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.

Eleanor sits on the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorney’s (CITMA) Law & Practice Committee and is a member of CITMA’s EUIPO Working Group. As part of her CITMA role, Eleanor was recently selected to participate in the EUIPO’s convergence programme aimed at harmonising trade mark appeal proceedings across the EU.

  • An international network of advertising agencies in the management of its global trade mark portfolio, including clearance and filing programmes for existing agencies, new brands and acquisitions, as well as global enforcement strategies.
  • A mobile phone manufacturer in a series of bad faith oppositions in the UK and EU, including on appeal to the Appointed Person.
  • An advertising agency on parallel UK and EU oppositions, at first instance and on appeal to the Appointed Person and EUIPO Board of Appeal.
  • A City-based bank defending trade mark infringement proceedings before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court.
  • A consumer products multi-national on pan-EU infringement issues.
  • Various clients on their Brexit IP strategy.
