Emma has broad experience advising clients on EU and UK competition law and sectoral regulation gained in private practice, as an in-house advisor and as a Monitoring Trustee. Her experience spans a wide range of industries, including aviation, biotech, energy, financial services, manufacturing, music and telecoms. 

Emma trained and qualified at a Magic Circle law firm where she worked as an associate in the competition and regulatory team for over ten years. During this time, she advised high profile clients on mergers, antitrust, State aid, regulatory and public procurement law matters. She worked in London and Brussels and enjoyed in-house secondments to two financial services companies. 

As a Monitoring Trustee, Emma worked closely with EU and UK regulators and gained valuable perspectives on remedies design and implementation and effective compliance monitoring. 

Emma joined CMS in July 2021 and is based in the firm’s London office.

  • Pendragon plc on the sale of its UK motor and fleet management divisions to Lithia Motors Inc.
  • Ball Corporation, on its acquisition of Rexam plc.
  • Michael Kors on the EU and global merger control aspects of its acquisitions of Jimmy Choo and Versace.
  • Global construction company in respect of its involvement in a suspected cartel in Northern Europe.
  • Various companies in relation to regulatory matters as well as ongoing competition compliance.
  • Various clients on public procurement.
  • Multinational telecoms company – defence of two abuse of dominance complaints connected to FRAND licensing.
  • Advising a large multinational in relation to two tax State aid investigations.
