Gideon is an Associate in the Technology & Media team at CMS, working in a hybrid role that combines fee-earning legal work with legal technology and innovation to develop smarter, more scalable ways of delivering legal services. Internally, Gideon works with teams across the firm to improve the way legal work is delivered. He helps design and embed more efficient processes, supports the adoption of legal technology, and collaborates with lawyers to streamline workflows and enhance consistency at scale. For clients, Gideon contributes to the development of innovative, tech-enabled solutions that respond to business needs and improve service delivery. He works closely with client teams to explore new delivery models and integrate legal technology into existing ways of working. Strategically, Gideon supports the firm’s broader innovation agenda by advising on emerging trends, helping shape internal initiatives, and acting as a bridge between legal teams, technologists, and innovation leads to ensure new ideas translate into practical outcomes.

In his legal practice, Gideon advises clients on a broad range of IT and IP matters, including academic research agreements, software development and licensing (including open source), data protection, intellectual property, outsourcing, and general commercial contracts. He has a particular interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and advises clients on the legal, regulatory and contractual issues associated with the development, use, and procurement of AI tools. Gideon has also advised on the development of AI-related policy and standards at EU-level, participates in cross-industry working groups, and regularly delivers training sessions and workshops on the practical and legal aspects of AI.

Gideon has worked with a wide range of clients, including major universities, public authorities, and large private companies across sectors such as technology, energy, and financial services.
