Jessica advises trustee and corporate clients on all aspects of pensions law. Jessica has experience advising on a broad range of pensions matters, including advising trustee clients on the day-to-day administration of schemes, data protection queries, GMP equalisation, corporate transactions and pensions litigation. Jessica has been involved on a variety of de-risking projects with experience acting for both trustees and insurers for schemes progressing to buy-in and buy-out, including residual risks considerations.

Relevant experience

  • Advising the Trustee of the NSK Pension Scheme on a £309m buy-in with M&G
  • Advising Just on the buy-in policy to insure the remaining £300m liabilities of the ITB Pension Funds (Open Fund).
  • Advising an insurance company on their first buy-in transaction of two pension schemes, including drafting their standard terms and conditions and negotiating these with the trustees. 
  • Review of scheme documentation and benefit specifications for multiple insurers, including negotiations of buy-in policies. Experience working on buy-in transactions for schemes at both ends of the scale, including those under £13 million and over £1.2 billion.
  • Advising trustees of multiple defined benefit schemes on buy-in transactions, including preparation of the benefit specification. 
  • Advising an insurance company on individual annuities to be issued on the buy-out of various pension schemes. 
  • Experience advising insurers and trustees on approach to residual risks insurance and negotiating commercially appropriate terms.
  • Working on arrangements between various private equity firms for the £7 billion private equity takeover of a FTSE 250 company and the trustees of defined benefit pension schemes. 
  • Advising the subsidiary of a multinational energy corporation on the consequences for the defined benefit scheme of the potential sale of a major corporate asset and negotiating an updated memorandum of understanding between the employer and the trustee.

  • Law degree at Durham University.
