Joanna trained at CMS and is now a Senior Associate in the Energy and Infrastructure team. She has particular experience in the healthcare, education and transport sectors having advised project sponsors and lenders on infrastructure projects in the UK and abroad. More recently, she has been advising on operational projects where parties are in dispute or the projects are in distress.

Relevant experience

  • A Project Company SPV on all operational matters at the hospital, including variations, market testing, funder consents and emergency work.
  • A funder on its portfolio of healthcare projects, including standstill arrangements, settlements, capital projects and service variations.
  • A Project Company SPV following the liquidation of Carillion, including advice on interim service arrangements and appointing a replacement contractor.
  • Johnson & Johnson in relation to its innovative 15-year partnership with Guy’s Hospital in London to deliver a managed orthopaedic service as well as to design, build, finance and operate new orthopaedic theatre suites.
  • Tramlink Nottingham Limited on the construction of two additional tram lines for the Nottingham Tram (NET Phase 2) project and on various ad hoc contractual issues.
  • EBRD and the Contracting Authority in relation to the reconstruction of the M10 in Belarus.
  • Merseylink Civil Contractors Joint Venture in relation to the Mersey Gateway Bridge DBFO project.
  • The project companies on three separate schools batches procured under the Government’s Priority Schools Building Programme.
  • A local education partnership (LEP) on their portfolio of schools including the design and build contracts with the procuring authority, subcontracts and suite of ancillary documents.
  • Low Carbon on its portfolio of solar projects and entry into the battery storage market.
  • Various owners/operators on their renewable asset portfolios, providing full support through the tender stage and subsequent negotiations with contractors, equipment suppliers and long term service contractors.
