Laura is an associate in the Disputes Resolution team in Manchester having joined CMS in August 2024. Laura qualified in 2022 and has experience in a wide range of contentious commercial matters in various sectors, focusing on high value litigation involving board / shareholder disputes, breach of contract, negligence, injunctions, asset recovery and contentious insolvency. Laura also has a keen interest in cyber litigation including matters concerning cyber-attacks and the recovery of crypto-assets.

Laura regularly deals with commercial clients and private individuals, acting for both Claimants and Defendants in County Court and High Court matters. Laura also has experience in assisting clients with resolving matters via alternative dispute resolution, including mediation.

Relevant experience

  • Acting for a shareholder in a £70m shareholder dispute including obtaining injunctive relief to prevent expulsion as a shareholder of the company.
  • Acting for an IT service provider in a £1m claim concerning a cyber-attack.
  • Acting for a healthcare company in a £500k claim concerning breach of a joint venture agreement.
  • Advising insurers on the recovery of crypto-assets paid out as ransom following a cyber-attack.
