Max is a Senior Associate in the CMS Corporate team in London with broad corporate experience advising on joint ventures, corporate reorganisations, energy, infrastructure and PFI projects, rolling stock assets and traditional M&A.

Relevant experience

  • Columbia Threadneedle on its asset portfolio disposal to 3i Infrastructure, including two operational Italian hydro projects, a Swedish offshore wind business and a Norwegian data mine.
  • AXA IM on the equity arrangements relating to its acquisition of a 50% stake in Coalburn 1, a 500MW battery energy storage system from CIP.
  • Macquarie Asset Management and BCI on the acquisition of a 60% stake in National Grid’s UK gas transmission and metering business, with an implied enterprise value of GBP 9.6bn.
  • A consortium of infrastructure investors on its acquisition of a majority stake in National Grid’s gas distribution network, creating Cadent, and subsequent arrangements to acquire the remaining stake.
  • NBIM on the acquisition of a 37.5% stake in the 573MW operational Race Bank Wind Farm.
    Octopus Investments on the acquisition of a 29.7MW wind farm.
  • A UK renewables fund on the acquisition of a 12.5% stake in a 600+MW operational UK offshore wind farm.

  • An infrastructure fund ​on shareholder arrangements for its partnership with a listed fund to acquire a portfolio of solar energy projects.
  • A financial investor ​on the disposal of a portfolio of anaerobic digestion businesses.
  • The founders of a UK energy supply business ​on the disposal of a majority stake to a state-owned energy company and the subsequent merger of the companies’ trading operations.​
  • AMP Capital on its disposal of a majority stake in Angel Trains, a rolling stock business, and the subsequent collapse of the investment platform.
  • The funders to Rock Rail on a GBP 900m+ debt facility for 750 new Aventra carriages for First MTR South Western Trains, and a debt facility for 29 battery-electric bi-mode trains for TransPennine Express, including review of rolling stock arrangements.
