Melissa Moriarty is a Professional Support Lawyer, advising and assisting the firm’s infrastructure, construction and energy disputes lawyers in the UK and international offices with legal knowhow and training. Prior to working as a professional support lawyer, Melissa worked for many years at a large international law firm, resolving construction and engineering disputes in a variety of forums including high court proceedings, international arbitration, adjudication and mediation. These disputes were often high value, multi-party and international. Contracts advised on included JCT, FIDIC, NEC, IChemE and IMechE.

In her role as Professional Support Lawyer, Melissa coordinates legal training for lawyers and clients, manages internal legal knowhow resources for the Construction and Energy disputes lawyers and keeps colleagues up to date on relevant legal developments. 

Relevant experience

  • A contractor in a dispute relating to the laying of transnational parallel oil and gas pipelines.
  • A UK utility company in relation to six adjudications regarding defective works.
  • Representing a consultant in relation to the Dubai metro.
  • Several parties in disputes relating to social infrastructure PFIs.
  • Representing an M&E subcontractor who was a creditor in the Chapter 11 insolvency of a large US contractor.
  • Secondee to Galliford Try plc as sole in-house lawyer.
  • Several cases in 1999 relating to the TCC’s first enforcements of adjudicators’ decisions.
