Nicholas is a Senior Paralegal with 25 years experience in both Claimant and Defendant sectors.

Nicholas has worked at CMS since 2015, specialising in defendant industrial disease, property damage and employers/public liability personal injury claims. Nicholas also provides support to the in-house costs team and is a member of the firm’s cyber breach response team.

Nicholas advises central government departments, national contractors and large UK corporations handling both individual claim files and wider support across different practice groups on liability advisory, evidence reviews, costs assessment negotiation, budget drafting and Schedules.

Outside of legal work Nicholas has a lead role in development of the CMS team’s case management and precedent document systems. Nicholas is an active member on the firm's Wellbeing and Charity Committees and is a mental health first aider.

Relevant experience

  • Defence work on pre and post litigated industrial disease and personal injury including strategy analysis, evidence reviews, drafting, negotiations and managing litigation through to trials.
  • Claims handling on property damage work including underground utilities and disputes between contractors and national organisations.
  • Member of the firm’s Emergency cyber breach response rota. Supporting clients and acting as incident response liaison, assisting on follow up work during ICO notifications, data analysis and insurer reporting.
  • Supporting on group litigation with complex disclosure and medical evidence reviews.
