Olly is an Of Counsel in the media team with extensive experience advising major rights holders and leading media companies regarding the exploitation of media and other commercial rights. In particular, Olly has more than a decade’s experience as part of the core broadcasting team advising the Premier League in respect of all aspects of its audio-visual and audio rights landscape. Recent work highlights for the Premier League include Project Restart, a ground-breaking competition law exclusion order and some of the largest domestic and international rights deals in world sport.

Relevant experience

  • The Premier League on the formulation and execution of all aspects of its domestic and international audio-visual and audio rights strategy, work which includes packaging, tendering and contracting of all of the Premier League's global audio-visual rights, as well as advising on operational issues throughout the season.
  • A major global motor sport series regarding its media rights agreements with licensees (both traditional broadcast and OTT), retained rights and talent agreements.

Prior to joining CMS, Olly advised:

  • An international governing body regarding its proposed collective selling of media rights and associated packaging.
  • An international broadcaster in respect of various investments and acquisitions in sports, channels and content.
  • A leading telco on a bid for media rights to its domestic football league.
