Paul is a Senior Associate and is an IP disputes lawyer. He works with clients across a range of sectors, and in particular financial services, fintech, tech, ecommerce platforms and entertainment. Much of his work is focused on advising clients on trade marks, designs, domain and company name disputes and copyright issues, including on brand choice, clearance, global filing strategies, prosecution as well as contentious disputes in the enforcement and protection of those IP rights.  Paul has regularly been involved in pre-action correspondence, which has often led to favourable outcomes for clients without having to initiate enforcement proceedings.

Paul has particular experience of successfully managing complex global trade mark filing and enforcement programmes and is well placed to advise and manage trade mark portfolios in this respect. He also works regularly with start-ups, helping them secure and protect appropriate IP rights in a cost-effective manner at the early stages of growth.  Paul has been involved in actions before the UK and European Intellectual Property Offices, English High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and CJEU.

In addition to Paul’s contentious experience, he regularly works with clients in safeguarding IP and securing favourable terms in complex licensing and assignments of IP in a wide variety of business transactions.
