Samikah is an experienced lawyer specialising in data protection, privacy and cyber security with practise in advisory and transactional work and contentious experience. She works across a range of sectors including technology, media, healthcare and real-estate. Samikah appreciates in-house challenges and secondments to SSE PLC, Aviva, Medtronic and providing DPO services for Nesta UK, an innovation agency, have further developed her commercial focus. She is known for strategic and pragmatic advice and enjoys working collaboratively to find innovative solutions to legal issues. Her varied experience and strength in building and maintaining relationships allows her to put clients at ease, understand them and tap into wide networks for insights that can help plan for changing landscapes.   

Samikah holds a certification as an Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E). She is a member of CMS’s EquIP team. As part of CSR initiatives, she was also co-opted as a NED and Trustee on the board of Collaborative Learning Trust and became a member of the Audit Risk and Finance Committee. Prior to joining CMS Samikah developed varied experience in both private and public sectors including at a retail company, Lloyds Banking Group and the Financial Reporting Council and carried out a secondment at the Kantar Group.

  • Advising on personal data breaches for various organisations including a ransomware attack on an international company involving children’s medical data and notification in several jurisdictions.
  • International transfers of personal data advice for a US aerospace manufacturing company.
  • TV companies on data protection compliance including transparency and on the design and implementation of an app.
  • Global pharmaceutical companies on compliance including data protection audits, international transfers of personal data, policies and processes, negotiating data processing agreements and agreements related to global collaboration arrangements and consultancy agreements.
  • Advising on innovative and new processes and completion of data protection impact assessments for a multinational energy company.
  • A multinational technology company engaged in complex e-commerce, online advertising and artificial intelligence in achieving greater data protection compliance through capturing processing activities in a record.
  • Marketing advice for various sectors including a multinational insurance company.
  • Negotiating data protection provisions on various strategic agreements for property management companies.
  • Advising on the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulation for several public bodies.
