Steven is a partner in the Real Estate Team. He acts for a variety of institutional, foreign and private investors across a varied range of investment and development transactions.

Steven co-heads the CMS Student Accommodation sub-sector group and has a wide variety of experience in this sphere, and was a core member of the team that won Legal/Professional Team (Student Property) at the 2024 Property Week Student Accommodation Awards.

Steven has significant experience in advising Japanese investors / developers on their UK-based transactions.

Relevant experience

  • Columbia Threadneedle funds on a number of investment acquisitions (both funded and unfunded) and disposals of various industrial/office/retail properties throughout the UK, including several portfolios.
  • urbanest across its entire PBSA portfolio including:
    • the acquisition, financing and development of its student accommodation assets across London;
    • on the acquisition and development of 2 Trafalgar Way in Canary Wharf, Europe’s largest Passivhaus development;
    • the negotiation of a number of nomination agreements across the portfolio including with UCL, KCL and NYU;
  • Mitsui Fudosan UK on all acquisitions and developments in the UK, including several office buildings, a number of joint ventures and the redevelopment and expansion of The British Library and surrounding areas, including commercial, life science and innovation space;
  • Kajima Properties (Europe) on a number of acquisitions and developments including central London offices, such as 55 Moorgate and 27 Soho Square, and mixed-use schemes, such as Warehouse K in Docklands;
  • Sotetsu Urban Creates and Yasuda Real Estate on their acquisition into the vehicle which owns 21 Moorfields;
  • NTT UD Europe on the redevelopment and letting of 20 Finsbury Circus and their joint venture for the acquisition and development of a co-living site in North London; 
  • Acquisition and development pre-lets of a number of high-profile City office developments.
  • A client on the acquisition of a five shopping centre portfolio with a value of GBP 200m+.
  • BNP Paribas on the development, pre-letting and forward sale of a high profile building in King's Cross.
  • Various clients on reviewing and negotiating the release of rights of light on City developments.
