Veral is an Associate within the Energy & Climate Change team at CMS, having qualified as a solicitor in 2023. He regularly advises developers, investors, lenders and offtakers on renewable energy projects and transactions and related regulatory and commercial matters.

Veral was previously seconded to SSE Energy Markets. During his time at SSE, Veral supported the Energy Markets team with several wind, solar and battery projects across the UK and internationally. 

Relevant experience

  • SSE in relation to its route-to-market PPA with Inch Cape Offshore Limited to offtake 50% of the CfD-backed wind farm’s 1080MW electricity output and associated environmental benefits for a period of at least 15 years.
  • Several leading UK battery developers/optimisers on the optimisation arrangements for UK battery storage facilities, including merchant, floor and tolling-based structures.
  • SSE in relation to its 16-year route-to-market PPA with Red Rock for the CfD-backed 67.1MW Benbrack Onshore Wind Farm.
  • SSE in relation to its two-year route-to-market PPA with CWP Energy for the Akingall 1 Wind Farm.
  • Northern Endurance Partnership on developing the regulatory regime for CCUS in GB, including in relation to the CCUS transport and storage services licence and Network Code.
  • The creditors to Renewable Power Capital (RPC) on the closing of long-term senior facilities, totalling EUR 555m, relating to RPC’s 553MW onshore wind portfolio in Sweden, including due diligence of the project documents.
  • DIF Capital Partners / Verdant Energy on the grid, regulatory, and offtake elements of its acquisition, development, financing and operation of a portfolio of over 700MW of UK co-located battery storage facilities and solar farms.
