Victoria Lee is a senior associate in the Pensions Team and her twenty years of experience includes general advisory work covering all aspects of occupational pension schemes for both sponsoring employers and trustees.

Recently Victoria has assisted a trustee board with the complex issue of removing a defined contribution section from a hybrid scheme via a transfer to a master trust and the reclassification of a defined contribution benefit with a defined benefit underpin as a defined benefit. 

Relevant experience

  • Trustees on the complex issue of the reclassification of a defined contribution benefit with an underpin on a reclassification as a defined benefit
  • Trustees on the statutory breach concerning the information provided to members who leave with less than 2 years’ pensionable service.
  • General day to day advice for trustees of occupational pension schemes involving a variety of topics including new pensions legislation, ill health early retirement, death in service claims and trustee duties.
  • Trustees with contentious matters such as internal dispute resolution complaints and Pensions Ombudsman complaints.
  • The disposal of subsidiaries in sectionalised schemes and TUPE transfers of staff.
  • Trustees with the complex issue of GMP equalisation and providing initial advice on equalising cash equivalent transfer values and the Lloyds III judgment.
  • Trustees in relation to the legal issues arising in connection with a proposal to close schemes to future accrual.
  • Day to day advice to trustees of pension schemes on a wide range of topics including scheme governance, GDPR, conflicts of interest, appointment and removal of trustees and chair’s statements.
  • Day to day operational master trust queries.
  • Drafting and amending governing scheme documents for occupational pension schemes.
