Welcome to the 2025 edition of the CMS Annual Review of developments in English oil and gas law, featuring commentary and analysis on the latest developments in English oil and gas law. This edition marks 10 years since the first CMS Annual Review of developments in English Oil and Gas Law was published in 2015.

This year’s review delves into a range of recent judicial decisions and arbitral awards, each with significant implications for practitioners and stakeholders across the industry.

The 2025 Annual Review deals with recent case law relevant to oil and commodities, natural gas and LNG, joint ventures and royalty agreements, energy taxation, M&A and company law, performance bonds and advance payment, agency, boilerplate and interest clauses, the Arbitration Act, protestor action and more issues that impact the day-to-day workings of the oil and gas industry.
