Anyone who has spent hours on long motorway journeys will respond to the idea of an Automated Vehicle (AV) doing the work for you. In the real world, AVs have been developed more with an eye on improved road safety than convenience. A recent joint Law Commission report on AVs is aimed squarely at safety and makes seventy-five recommendations on a legal and regulatory framework for the safe development and deployment of AVs.
