European Commission proposes adjustments to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
On October 22, 2025 the European Commission presented a proposal to modify the implementation timeline of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). According to this new proposal, large and medium-sized companies would need to comply as of December 2025, while micro and small enterprises would have an additional year, until December 2026.
The proposal also introduces a six-month transition period without sanctions, starting in January 2026. The European Parliament and the Council will now review and vote on this proposal. Until then, the current regulation remains in force, meaning that compliance for all companies would begin in December 2025 unless amended.
