Profit

Legislation is not the only factor compelling companies to embed sustainability into their business practices; a new awareness in society is an even greater driver. Business success is increasingly influenced by the expectations of customers, employees and the general public with regard to corporate responsibility for the environment and social issues. That also applies to commercial law firms like ours – and we are committed to meeting this challenge. Our corporate culture seamlessly combines forward-looking (and thus profit-oriented) business activities with everyday sustainability and respect for human rights.

Sustainability advice

Companies in all sectors must address the question of how they can contribute to sustainable development. Through our ESG consulting, we help our clients to apply the law correctly in the context of their sustainability strategy and requirements, as well as to reduce risks and comply with new regulatory requirements.

Sustainable business operations

In our efforts to continuously optimise the running of our firm in terms of sustainability, we are committed to the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and to upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms for all. This applies both to our own activities and to our supply chain.

Our procurement policy aims to minimise environmental impact and to maintain ethical standards along our value chain.

Our Supplier Code complies with principles such as the ILO standards (International Labour Organisation) as a basis for sustainable long-term supply chains.

Ethics and integrity system

Integrity is at the core of our corporate values, along with our unwavering resolve to act in conformity with all applicable laws and ethical principles. These are not just empty words; they are our commitment to everyone with whom we interact.

Our ethics and integrity system is a key component of our compliance management system. It was set up by CMS Germany in partnership with our service provider EQS Group AG.

The system provides a platform for anonymous reporting of concerns about possible environmental or human rights infringements within our own sphere of activity or in the CMS supply chain. The ethics and integrity system is available to CMS employees and to our business partners and their staff.

We believe that transparency and responsibility are crucially important in the business environment. Our ethics and integrity system plays an active part in developing a culture of trust, which is of the utmost importance to us.
