CMS advises EDF power solutions Deutschland on innovative grid storage project

Hamburg – EDF power solutions Deutschland has won the decentralised Grid Booster project of the flexibility tender called by transmission system operator Amprion GmbH. With a total capacity of 250 megawatts spread across five sites, this battery storage system will support the transport of electricity from north to south and reduce grid congestion.

A CMS team led by Dr Holger Kraft provided comprehensive legal advice to EDF power solutions Deutschland in connection with the project. The advice focused in particular on negotiations with Amprion, setting up the financing structure and structuring the project under corporate law. In addition, CMS is supporting EDF power solutions Deutschland during the tendering process for the construction, operation and management of the grid booster.

The EDF power solutions Group has battery storage capacities of more than 800 megawatts in operation and around 1.2 gigawatts under construction worldwide. With the Grid Booster project, it is also positioning itself as an important player in the field of energy storage solutions in Germany.
