CMS advises insurance broker Ecclesia on acquisition of stake in Liva Partners Ltd.
Frankfurt/Main – Detmold-based insurance broker Ecclesia has acquired a stake in Liva Partners Ltd., a specialist broker with offices in London. This move enables the Ecclesia Group to expand its expertise in transaction-related insurance (M&A insurance services). The Ecclesia Group will use the acquisition to drive forward growth. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
A CMS team headed by lead partner Dr Heike Wagner and Dr Tobias Kilian advised Ecclesia on all legal aspects of acquiring the stake. Ecclesia regularly relies on advice from the CMS team and CMS. Recent examples include the acquisition of a majority stake in Germany’s Schunck Group, the acquisition of Belgian broker Kegels & Van Antwerpen and the takeover of Switzerland-based City Versicherungs-Kundendienst AG and City Beratungs-AG by Kessler AG.
The Ecclesia Group is based in Detmold, Germany. With around 2,000 employees and turnover of some EUR 300 million, it ranks as one of the biggest German insurance brokers for corporates and institutions.
Liva Partners Ltd. with headquarters in London and Liva Europe GmbH, which is based in Düsseldorf, are pursuing rapid expansion in transaction-related insurance. Liva operates primarily in the UK and the EU.
