Hamburg – Japanese energy investment company Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure Co. Ltd. has acquired 40 % of the shares in Aquila Capital Holding GmbH (jointly with its subsidiaries “Aquila Capital”), a leading manager in real asset investments The transaction is currently subject to the approval of respective merger control and other regulatory authorities.
A cross-border CMS team led by joint lead partners Dr Holger Kraft and Dr Eckart Gottschalk provided Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure with comprehensive advice with regard to the purchase of the shares, including the due diligence process as well as the negotiating of the shareholders agreement. The transaction is the first ever of Daiwa accompanied by CMS.
Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure is a subsidiary of Daiwa Securities Group Inc. which is Japans second largest investment banking and securities brokerage firm. As part of Daiwa Securities’ investment division Daiwa Energy & Infrastructure conducts investments in renewable energies and infrastructure assets.
Aquila Capital Holding is part of the German Aquila Group. Founded in 2001 the group currently manages approx. EUR 9.5 billion assets for its investors (as at 31.10.2019). The business model is based on the company’s investment expertise in real asset investments.
