Cologne – RSBG SE, the investment company of the RAG-Stiftung foundation, is expanding its Advanced Manufacturing division. The company recently acquired 100% of the shares in Multiphoton Optics GmbH (MPO), a specialist provider in the micro-optics field. This was followed by the acquisition of Surface Nano Analysis GmbH (SPECS), a technology leader in developing equipment for producing advanced semiconductor structures. Details of the transactions were not disclosed.
An international CMS team headed by Dr Malte Bruhns advised RSBG SE on all legal aspects of the two transactions. A proprietary process was used to acquire MPO from the previous shareholders, who included the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, High-Tech Gründerfonds and Bayern Kapital. When acquiring SPECS, RSBG SE was the successful bidder in an international bidding process.
Würzburg-based Multiphoton Optics GmbH is regarded as a pioneer in two-photon lithography. The company was established in 2013 as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC.
Surface Nano Analysis GmbH has its headquarters in Berlin. It is acknowledged globally as a technology and market leader in the development, manufacture and application of surface analysis components and systems. The company employs around 140 people and operates subsidiaries in the US, Russia, China and Switzerland.
