Munich – The New York based reinsurer Transatlantic Reinsurance Company (TransRe) has reorganized its European corporate structure. TransRe Europe S.A. is registered in Luxembourg after the cross-border transformation of TransRe Zurich Ltd. TransRe Europe S.A. is responsible for managing TransRe's operations across the European Union and the European Economic Area, and TransRe Europe S.A. has established branch offices in Paris and Munich.
An international CMS team led by Richard Mitterhuber and Dr Jessica Mohaupt has advised TransRe on all legal and tax aspects of the transfer of the existing reinsurance business in Germany from the German branch of Transatlantic Reinsurance Company to the newly established German branch of TransRe Europe S.A. as well as on all legal and tax aspects of the transfer of the new business activities in France from the French branch of Transatlantic Reinsurance Company to the newly established French branch of TransRe Europe S.A. The business transfers became effective at the end of 2019. The transfer of the German business activities also involved an approval procedure with the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority.
Transatlantic Reinsurance Company and TransRe Europe S.A. are part of the Transatlantic Reinsurance Group with its head office in New York City, USA. The ultimate parent company of TransRe Group is Alleghany Corporation which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
