Jakob Steiff is a partner and leads a team of five lawyers advising on procurement law and public commercial law at the firm’s Frankfurt office. He has extensive experience in planning and implementing complex procurement procedures for public authorities as well as in advising bidding companies with a view to a successful participation in procurement procedures. He also regularly represents his clients in review proceedings before public procurement tribunals and senates as well as the European courts.
His public commercial law work includes public construction and environmental law, founding and state aid law and compliance as well as advising on project developments, public-private partnerships (PPP) and complex approval procedures. He is also a member of the CMS Hydrogen Initiative, where he advises on various pilot projects, primarily on licensing and regulatory issues. Jakob’s practice also covers private construction law and related architects’ matters. Furthermore he is member of the Defense & Security CMS taskforce.
Jakob started his legal career in 2003. He joined CMS in 2007 and was made partner in 2012. Jakob has a proven track record of publications and lectures. Since 2013, he has been a lecturer for procurement law at EBS Law School in Wiesbaden and a member of the Steiff holding advisory board.
Legal directories, such as JUVE and Legal 500, recommend Jakob based on client surveys as a frequently recommended lawyer, most recently in their current 2023 editions. The German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche repeatedly recognised him as “top procurement law lawyer”.
