See allThis call for evidence is intended to inform HMG’s investigation into the control test under UK financial sanctions regulations and aims to gather evidence on three main areas: the prevalence and nature of hypothetical control in financial sanctions casework; practical challenges and ease of implementation associated with the control test, and the practical utility of control typologies as a tool to assist with assessing the hypothetical element of the control test for financial sanctions. Responses are required by 13 April 2026.
OFSI has updated its guidance following a consultation on measures to enhance the effectiveness of its civil enforcement processes. It includes amendment/additional sections relating to: early account scheme; the case assessment framework the monetary penalty process and settlement scheme, a new financial hardship policy, and the implementation of fixed monetary penalties.
HMT has highlighted that the UK Sanctions List is now the single source for UK sanctions designations following the closure of the OFSI Consolidated List of Asset Freeze Targets.
