The Tracker: a guide to the progress of Bills in the UK Parliament 1
Welcome to the December issue of the Tracker that shows the current status of all 29 new bills before Parliament at present.
Parliament started a new session on 18 November, after ceasing the previous session a week before that. All outstanding bills in the previous session failed, although some bills, such as the Equality Bill and the Constitutional Reform and Governance Bill were provided with "carry-over provisions" so that they could continue their progress in a subsequent session. There are more bills tabled in Parliament than the 29 I have listed, but I have omitted them because they relate to purely local issues.
The Government bills that Parliament are taking seriously, with the first committee stage scheduled into the Parliamentary timetable to happen by mid-January, are the:
Bribery Bill
Cluster Munitions (Prohibitions) Bill
Digital Economy Bill
Financial Services Bill
Running a close second to these with a second reading scheduled for this month or early January and of interest to commercial organisations, are the:
Corporation Tax Bill
Energy Bill
Equality Bill
Fiscal Responsibility Bill
Taxation (International and other Provisions) Bill
Third Parties (Rights against Insurers) Bill
