In today's Times, it was announced that the Treasury has
launched an investigation into mortgage lending after claims
that banks have not passed on the benefit of recent cuts
in base rates to borrowers.
In fact, yesterday at 3pm the Treasury published a consultation
paper which can be obtained from its website
(www.treasury.gov.uk) or from the Public Enquiry Unit
(0171 270 4558).
The consultation paper relates to the review of mortgage
regulation in general rather than a specific investigation
into the base rate cut issue headlined in The Times.
