CMS has advised Apatura on the sale and development of a portfolio of UK-based battery energy storage system (BESS) projects to Drax Group for £157.2m.
The portfolio comprises three two-hour duration sites with a combined capacity of 260MW, located in Scotland and Northern England. Apatura will manage the construction of each project from ready-to-build status to commercial operation.
Two of the projects are expected to reach commercial operation in 2027 and the third in 2028. Apatura has granted Drax Group a right of first offer on an additional eight early development stage projects totalling 289MW.
