CMS has advised longstanding client Equinor on the acquisition of Lyngsåsa operational onshore wind farm in southern Sweden from SUSI Partners.

Headquartered in Norway with approx. 23,000 employees in around 25 countries, Equinor is the largest supplier of energy to Europe.

The fully operational 95 MW Lyngsåsa wind farm is located in Alvesta, southern Sweden. Lyngsåsa has been in production since September 2021 and consists of 22 wind turbines with a combined installed capacity of 95 MW. The wind farm generates around 300 GWh annually.

Munir Hassan, CMS Partner and Head of the CMS Energy & Climate Change Group, comments: “We are pleased to have supported Equinor on this deal. At CMS, our Energy & Climate Change lawyers regularly advise on strategic transactions in the renewable energy sector, and we’re well-placed to support clients on sustainable energy deals of this nature.”

The transaction was managed by a cross-disciplinary CMS team, spanning multiple jurisdictions, led by Munir Hassan and Vitalii Mainarovych, with Hugo Coetzee, Will Fenn and Hannah Merrick leading on the project financing aspects. The team also included Brynn Horner, Alex Moore, Konrad Rawicz and Katie Campbell (Corporate); Jack Corr; Huw Knott; Christopher Thorp; Andreas Stavrakas; Eylul Atesogullari and Olivia Burn (Finance); Dalia Majumder-Russell and Enrique Fajer (EPC); Russell Hoare, Jean-Francois Willems and Jack Richardson (Competition); Rudolf Laurin, Anton Bengtsson, Aaron Coster, Robert Kullgren, Sandra Apelgren, Linda Rydén and Caroline Wensberg (CMS Sweden); Dr Holger Kraft; Carl Werner; Dr Stefan Kühl; Nicolai Bischof and Dr Olaf Thießen (CMS Germany); Dag Thomas Hansson and Siv Madland (CMS Norway).
