CMS advises Reedtz Limited on acquisition of historic Notts County Football Club

1 August 2019

International law firm CMS has advised Reedtz Limited, a company owned by Danish brothers Christoffer and Alexander Reedtz, on the acquisition of Notts County Football Club, a founding member of the Football League and the oldest professional football club in the world.

The Reedtz brothers are the founders of London-headquartered Football Radar, a football data analytics company which specialises in predicting the outcome of matches and competitions. Reedtz Limited intend to use this new investment to apply the company’s resources to operating a club, specifically in the transfer market.

CMS acted on all aspects of the transaction including corporate, tax and football regulatory law.

The CMS team was led by partner Tom Jameson. Tom Jameson comments: “We are thrilled to have advised our longstanding client on what is a symbolic transaction for both Reedtz Limited and Notts County, and provides much-needed certainty for the future of the club. We will be keen spectators to the club’s exciting new future, as it combines the unique data and knowledge gained through Football Radar, with the extensive expertise that already exists within Notts County."

Reedtz Limited Director Christoffer Reedtz comments: “We wanted to work alongside a team of lawyers who not only understand the complexities of such a transaction as well as our ambitions, but who also have intricate knowledge of the football sector in general. CMS has been that team for us. Their hard work and tenacity enabled us to complete the transaction in time for the new football season.”

The CMS team also included David Zeffman, Mumuksha Singh, Tom Simpson, Stephen Hignett, Jacob Gilkes, Songul Matyar and Fareed Anees.
