CMS has advised VisionEdgeOne (VE1), a mid-market European infrastructure investment firm, on its acquisition of PubliBike Velospot AG (PubliBike), a leading provider of urban micromobility solutions in Switzerland. The transaction marks VE1's entry into the Swiss bike-sharing market and further expands its investment in the European micromobility sector.

The acquisition of PubliBike builds on VE1’s existing investment strategy in sustainable urban mobility. It follows the firm's investment in INURBA Mobility, which established its footprint across Spain, France, Finland, Poland and Hungary.

Headquartered in Biel/Bienne, PubliBike operates more than 10,000 bikes and e-bikes across ten cantons, including Bern, Zurich and Basel, with a team of around 50 employees.

CMS advised VE1 throughout the transaction, supporting on all legal aspects of the acquisition.

Narinder Jugpal, CMS Partner and Co-Head of the CMS International Private Equity Group, said: “We are delighted to support VisionEdgeOne on its expansion and to bring together the strength of CMS’s international private equity and infrastructure capabilities to help clients execute complex cross-border transactions.”

Ben McParland, CMS Corporate Partner, comments: “As investors increasingly seek opportunities at the intersection of infrastructure, private equity and the energy transition, we expect continued investment into sustainable mobility platforms that combine resilient infrastructure characteristics with growth potential.”

The CMS team was led by Narinder Jugpal and Ben McParland and included Jack Mallory and Olivia Burn (CMS UK); and Stephan Werlen and Alexander Salamon (CMS Switzerland).
