Abi is an Associate in the CMS UK employment team, working in the London office. She advises on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, acting predominantly for employer clients.

Abi advises on disputes in the Employment Tribunal, defending complex and high-value cases, including sensitive in-employment claims.

Abi is currently seconded as an in-house employment lawyer to a global technology company, where she advises on a portfolio of Employment Tribunal litigation and provides day-to-day advice to the company's HR and management. This includes handling grievance and disciplinary matters concerning complex issues such as whistleblowing, discrimination, bullying/harassment and advising on matters related to performance management, long-term sickness absence, senior exits, and redundancy.

Abi sits on the CMS Women Committee, is a member of the CMS tag rugby team, and supports CMS pro bono activities by providing advice through a free legal advice clinic.

Relevant experience

  • An international pharmaceutical company in defending a group action relating to a contractual claim for enhanced redundancy pay following a TUPE transfer.
  • A university in defending claims for whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, and indirect age and sex discrimination concerning a large-scale redundancy involving senior professors and lecturers.
  • A public sector client on recalling overseas employees to the UK following extended periods of working abroad, including associated tax and employment risks.
