Emma is a Senior Associate in the Infrastructure, Construction and Energy Disputes team.

Emma has almost ten years of experience working with clients to resolve complex disputes and successfully deliver projects across the infrastructure and construction sectors in the UK.

Emma also provides project advice to assist clients with avoiding formal dispute mechanisms, review existing contractual arrangements and evaluate and manage risk.

Relevant experience

  • A contractor in a GBP 140m multi-party dispute in the Technology and Construction Court relating to significant defect claims arising out of the construction of a new hospital.
  • Project advice to one of the UK’s leading construction groups on multi-million pound local-authority roads infrastructure project. 
  • A UK contractor in an adjudication dealing with issues arising from contract interpretation, delay and liquidated damages in relation to a GBP 65m manufacturing facility. 
  • A subcontractor in a series of adjudications relating to time and money associated with M&E works on a UK Government project. 
  • A number of residential developers on managing risk across their portfolio following the introduction of the Building Safety Act. 
  • A consultant in relation to a multimillion-pound dispute in relation to construction defects, with specific focus on potential negligent design and the extended limitation period under the Defective Premises Act.
  • A number of clients (including a large UK supermarket and a real estate investment fund) in relation to glass defects associated with NiS inclusions. 
  • A number of investment funds regarding the management of construction defects across their portfolio. 
  • A leisure operator managing defects, lifecycle works and unavailability under a 15-year PFI contract. 
  • A Project Co. managing the rectification of defects (and associated recovery from the supply chain) under a hospital PFI contract.
