Frances is dual qualified in England & Wales and Scotland and specialises in working with clients both in the UK and internationally to resolve disputes on construction, energy and infrastructure projects. Before qualifying as a lawyer, she worked as a project manager in London for 10 years, so has experience of delivering projects on time and to budget and an understanding of the commercial drivers for clients and the need for workable advice and solutions. She also has extensive prior experience working in the public sector.

Frances has a particular expertise and interest in advising on marine construction projects including port expansions, interconnectors and offshore wind, and PFI/PPP concession projects. Her practice focusses on providing strategic advice, practical day-to-day operational support and dispute avoidance as well as finding solutions to disputes when they arise. She is a member of the Scottish Port & Maritime Technology Forum Steering Group, the Society of Construction Law, Women in Ports and Women in Shipping networks.
